Chief of Staff, Medical Health Service
Maj Gen Dr Ephrem RURANGWA is the Military Health Chief of Staff. Prior to this appointment, he was Commandant of Rwanda Military Hospital.
He held several appointments in Command (Brigade Commander, Division Commander), as Staff Officer (Chief Military Intelligence, Chief J1, Chief J4, and Head of Peace Support Operations) and in the military training as Deputy Commandant Nyakinama, Commandant Basic Military Training-Nasho and Commandant Rwanda Military Academy- Gako.
Maj Gen Dr E RURANGWA held appointments in other institutions as Director of Medical Services in the "Gendarmerie Nationale", Deputy Commissioner General in the Rwanda National Police. He also served in the Peace Support Operations as Deputy Force Commander of the African Union Mission in the Sudan (Darfur).
He holds a bachelor's degree in General Medicine from the "Universite du Burundi" and a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi.
He is a graduate of Zambia Command and Staff College, South African National Defence, and Kenya National Defence College.
He attended several short courses; Strategic Intelligence Management, Managing Defence in a Democracy among others, workshops, and international conferences and represented Rwanda Defence Force in regional meetings.
He is the Board Chairman of the Armed Forces Shop. He also served as Deputy Board Chairman of the Military Medical Insurance, Chairman of the Military Tender Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of Zigama Credit and Savings Society.
