UNMISS DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF PAYS FAREWELL VISIT TO RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS

The Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Brigadier General Kanobayire; who also serves as the Senior National Representative; today paid a farewell visit to Rwandan peacekeepers (RWANBATT3) stationed in Durupi, on the outskirts of Juba.
He was received by the RWANBATT3 Contingent Commander, Colonel Leodomir Uwizeyimana, and was provided with a detailed briefing on the battalion’s Area of Responsibility, the prevailing security situation, and ongoing operations.
In his address, Brigadier General Kanobayire expressed his deep appreciation for the service rendered by RWANBATT 3 in South Sudan. He commended the contingent’s discipline, commitment to mission standards, and their role in raising Rwanda’s flag high through professionalism and sacrifice. He also highlighted the exemplary conduct demonstrated in securing Internally Displaced Persons Camp 3; an achievement that continues to receive recognition.
He further encouraged RWANBATT 3 peacekeepers to maintain their discipline, professionalism, and operational readiness throughout the remainder of their deployment, affirming that the contingent remains a source of national pride for Rwanda and a pillar of UNMISS operations.
