Kigali, 19 July 2019

Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) sports teams in five disciplines are preparing for edition 12 of the East African Community (EAC) Military Games and Cultural Event due to take place in Kenya from 11 to 24 August this year.

The EAC Military Games and Cultural Event is an annual event aimed at promoting the espirit de corps among EAC member countries. It will feature different disciplines including Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Netball, and Athletics among others.

This year’s games will have South Sudan as the new participant and this will significantly enrich the East Africa Community culture through the games.

“Our training is going on well; our aim is to win the competition and bring trophies home as we did back in 2015,” Capt Katibito Byabuze, RDF men’s football team coach said.

While attending the Final Planning Conference (FPC) that took place in Nairobi on Wednesday, 10 July 2019, Colonel James Ruzibiza from Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) was impressed by the facilities designated to host the competition and he expressed his confidence in Kenya’s preparedness to host the games.
