RDF Peacekeepers in CAR and South Sudan honored with UN Medals

Bangui/Juba 14 December 2018
Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) peacekeepers serving under both serving under United Nation Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) were decorated with United Nations Peacekeeping medals for their contribution and selfless service observed during their tour of duty of bringing peace and stability in the respective countries.
In Bangui, the ceremony was presided over by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General (SRSG), Parfait Onanga Anyanga who lauded the sacrifice, professionalism and selfless service of the RDF contingent observed in the name of peace and security during of your tour of duties. 
“Your sacrifice must be honored and not be taken for nothing. Your country contributes in different UN missions such as South Sudan, Darfur, Haiti and CAR. Your professionalism and discipline is appreciated all over the world. Keep that as there is still a long way to accomplish our task to bring peace in the world,” said Mr Anyanga.
In Juba, the ceremony was attended by several UNMISS and UN dignitaries among them the UNMISS, OIC Force Commander Brig Gen Xing He,  the Sector of Juba Commander, guests from government of South Sudan, Rwandan community in South Sudan, among others.
The UNMISS Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General in charge of political affairs, Mustapha Soumare thanked the government of Rwanda for its commitment to UN peacekeeping missions globally with large number of peacekeepers in peace support operations.
