RDF JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE INTAKE 25 VISITS THE RWANDA LIBERATION MUSEUM, MULINDI

Mulindi, 7 October 2025

Today, officers from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Command and Staff College (Junior Command and Staff Course Intake 25) visited the Rwanda Liberation Museum in Mulindi as part of their study tour of  Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) liberation struggle.

The Mulindi site is one among several key historical sites in Rwanda where the RPA fought the liberation campaign.

The tour forms an integral part of the course's professional military education and operational history curriculum. It is designed to deepen the officers' understanding of Rwanda’s liberation struggle and the strategic military operations that led to the total liberation of the country.

During the visit, the officers had the privilege of receiving operational briefings and firsthand historical accounts from retired senior commanders who participated in the RPA’s liberation struggle. These senior commanders provided detailed insights into the operational challenges and strategic decisions that shaped the course of the war.

The briefings also underscored the key factors behind the RPA’s success, including strong leadership, discipline, strategic mobility, popular support from local communities, and high troop morale.

As part of this study tour, the students will continue visiting various key historical sites linked to the liberation struggle and the campaign against the genocide, further enriching their understanding of Rwanda's military and historical legacy.
