Rwanda and Israel conduct joint seminar on border protection

Kigali, 15 January 2020

Today, Rwanda and Israel Defence Ministries have conducted a one-day seminar on border protection in Kigali. The seminar which is jointly organized by the two ministries was attended by officials from Security Organs including; Rwanda Defence Force, Rwanda National Police and Rwanda Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration.

In his opening Remarks, Rwanda’s Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Albert Murasira said, “The seminar provides opportunity for Israeli participants to discuss with Rwandan counterparts, share lessons and experiences and come up with strategies to better defend our people.” 

The Ambassador of Israel to Rwanda, His Excellency Dr Ron Adam commended the existing warm relationship between Israel and Rwanda and said the seminar is another step towards strengthening the bilateral cooperation.

The Director of the international defence cooperation of the Israel Ministry of Defence and head of the Israel delegation, Brig Gen (Rtd) Yair Kulas said, “The goal of this seminar is to strengthen our mutual cooperation, work together, identify the needs and advise on the best strategical, tactical and technological solutions for the benefits of Rwanda and Israel.” he said.

Participants to the seminar shared knowledge and experience on different aspects including among others cross-border security, maritime, land and air security as well as Airport security.
