RDF KARATE CLUBS JOIN OTHER CLUBS IN TOURNAMENT TO COMMEMORATE GENOCIDE AGAINST THE TUTSI
The APR Karate Team and the RDF Special Forces Karate Team joined other different clubs affiliated with the Rwanda Karate Federation (FERWAKA) men and women in the 2026 Genocide Memorial Karate Tournament held in Karongi District.
The one-day competition organised by the Rwanda Federation Karate brought together karate clubs from across the country to honor and pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The tournament also served as a platform to promote peace, unity, and reconciliation through sport.

Before the competition, members of all participating clubs took part in remembrance activities, including a Walk to Remember to the Rubengera Genocide Memorial, where 3,439 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi are laid to rest.During the tournament, the APR men's team emerged as the champions, while Club Rafiki secured first place in the women's category.
The Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs of Karongi District, Madam UMUHOZA Pascasie, commended the young generation, particularly the Rwanda Karate Federation, for their valuable contribution through sports in commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and for their support to survivors.She encouraged them to continue upholding the values and discipline of karate.
