NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE-RWANDA STUDENTS AND FACULTY MEMBERS DEEPEN UNDERSTANDING OF DIPLOMACY AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Students and faculty members of the National Defence College-Rwanda (NDC-R) today visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MINAFFET) to gain insights into Rwanda’s foreign policy, diplomatic operations, international relations and cooperation.

The delegation received a detailed briefing from Abel Buhungu, Head of Rwanda Diplomatic Mission to the Republic of Sudan, on behalf of the Ministry. The briefing covered Rwanda’s foreign policy, diplomatic priorities and the role of diplomacy in advancing national security, strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations, and promoting Rwanda’s national interests.

The Commandant of the National Defence College-Rwanda (NDC-R), Brig Gen (Rtd) Didace Ndahiro, underscored the importance of the visit as a practical complement to the theoretical lectures students had received on international relations and foreign policy. He noted that the visit provided an opportunity for students to gain practical insights into the implementation of foreign policy, the challenges encountered and the role of diplomacy in safeguarding both national and international security.

The programme also included visits to the High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Rwanda, providing further insights into diplomatic engagement and international partnerships.
