VALIDATION WORKSHOP OF STRATEGIC LEVEL COURSES CONCLUDES AT THE RWANDA DEFENCE FORCE COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE
Nyakinama, 16 October 2025
The Validation Workshop of Strategic Level Courses, held from 13 to 16 October 2025 at The Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College (RDFCSC), Nyakinama, Musanze District, concluded yesterday.
The workshop focused on the development and validation of four newly designed Strategic Level Courses, including defence management, defence policy, international relations and security, leadership, command, and management. This initiative aligns with RDF CSC’s vision of becoming a center of excellence in strategic leadership, as well as in professional military education and training.
The core purpose of these new strategic courses is to shape and equip senior security organs leaders with a strategic mindset, policy acumen and leadership competence, to address critical gaps in strategic thinking, defence governance, and institutional capacity building. Introducing these areas in academic programs, the courses also aim to strengthen the overall effectiveness and professionalism of RDF while also contributing to regional and international security frameworks.
The workshop brought together RDF Generals, Senior Officers and various partners, including the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), experts from the American University of Malta, Makerere University, Euclid University, University of Rwanda, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives from sister security organs.
In his official closing remarks, Brigadier General Andrew Nyamvumba, the Commandant of RDF CSC, expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the RDF Leadership to all participants for their valuable insights and contributions. “I wish to express my profound gratitude to each and every one of you for the energy, intellectual rigour, and collaborative spirit that have defined our discussions over these past days. It has been nothing short of inspirational”.
Brigadier General Nyamvumba emphasized the significance of this collaborative effort in shaping competent, visionary, and strategic thinkers, for the RDF and other security institutions both in Africa and beyond, capable of responding to contemporary and future security challenges.
