THE UNMISS FORCE COMMANDER VISITS RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS IN SOUTH SUDAN

The Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Lt Gen Mohan Subramanian, visited the Rwandan Peacekeepers (Rwanbatt-3) at their headquarters located in Durupi Base camp, Juba, South Sudan.
He was received by the Contingent Commander, Col Leodomir UWIZEYIMANA, who briefed him on the security situation and routine operations of the force.
The Force Commander expressed appreciation for the commitment of the Rwandan peacekeepers in all the operations they were tasked with, particularly in the protection of civilians, emphasising their outstanding professional competence and dedication displayed in challenging areas of responsibility and efforts in securing IDP camps. He further encouraged the force to maintain momentum in fulfilling their mandate.
The visit concluded with a symbolic act of planting a tree, promoting a culture of environmental conservation initiatives.
