THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE HOSTED A GALA DINNER FOR DEFENCE ATTACHĆS ACCREDITED TO RWANDA
Kigali, 28 November 2025
Last night, the Ministry of Defence hosted an end-of-year gala dinner for defence attachƩs and associates accredited to Rwanda. The event organized by the Directorate General of International Military Cooperation (IMC) was meant to celebrate the growing partnership between the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and defence attachƩs representing foreign defence forces.
The DG IMC, Brig Gen Patrick Karuretwa, stressed that these relationships help to strengthen defence cooperation, interoperability and capacity building, benefitting significantly from shared expertise and reflecting the trust and confidence placed in Rwanda as a valued security partner on the African continent and beyond.
In his remarks, the guest of honor, Chief of Staff of the Medical Service in RDF, Maj Gen Ephrem Rurangwa, expressed deep appreciation to the guests, thanking them for their presence, their partnership, and the spirit of cooperation that continues to guide engagements throughout the year.
āThese partnerships are not symbolic; they are practical, impactful, and mutually beneficial. They strengthen our collective ability to confront complex threats while enhancing interoperability and trust among our forces,ā he said.
The steady growth of defence cooperation between the RDF and partner defence forces was highlighted, noting a tangible expansion of collaboration across multiple domains. In recent years, bilateral and multilateral engagements have significantly intensified, marked by an increase in defence cooperation agreements, information-sharing interactions, and professional military education exchanges, among others.
