SECURITY ORGANS IN NORTHERN PROVINCE CONDUCT TREE-PLANTING ACTIVITY IN BURERA DISTRICT
Burera, 23 December 2025
Today, joint security forces comprising personnel from the Rwanda Defence Force (2nd Division), Rwanda National Police (RNP), and the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), operating in the Northern Province, carried out a tree-planting activity in Bisiga Village, Gashoro Sector, Burera District. A total of 10,100 avocado trees were planted.
The security forces were joined by Hon Mugabowagahunde Maurice, the Governor of Northern Province and the Mayor of Burera District, Mukamana Solina.
In his remarks, the Governor commended both local residents and the security organs for their active participation, describing the initiative as a valuable contribution to environmental protection. He also praised the strong collaboration between the security forces and the community, as well as the contribution of the International Crane Foundation(ICF) representative who provided the seedlings.
Brig Gen Deo Rusanganwa, Commander of the 2nd Division, encouraged the local community to take ownership of the initiative by protecting the planted trees. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the security forces to continue such activities.
The activity was also attended by key regional security leaders, including Assistant Commissioner of Police Edmond Kalisa, the Regional Police Commander (RPC), and Lt Col Charles Kamali, the Regional Reserve Force Commander, among others.
