SECURITY ORGANS CONDUCT TREE-PLANTING ACTIVITY IN GAKENKE
Gakenke, 2 December 2025
Today, joint security forces comprising personnel from the Rwanda Defence Force (2nd Division), Rwanda National Police (RNP), and the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), operating in the Northern Province, carried out a tree-planting exercise in Kagano Model Village, Muzo Sector, Gakenke District. A total of 2,000 trees were planted during the activity.
The forces were joined by Uwamahoro Marie Therese, the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs for Gakenke District, who praised the initiative and emphasized its alignment with national efforts to promote environmental protection. She commended the security organs for their dual role in ensuring public safety and contributing to community development, including environmental conservation efforts like tree planting.
Brig Gen Deo Rusanganwa, Commander of the 2nd Division, encouraged the local community to take ownership of the initiative by protecting the newly planted trees. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the security forces to continue such activities across other areas of the Northern Province.
The event was also attended by key regional security leaders, including ACP Edmond Kalisa, the Regional Police Commander (RPC), and Lt Col Charles Kamali, the Regional Reserve Force Commander.
