RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS PROVIDE MEDICAL SERVICES TO IDPs IN MALAKAL

Malakal, 21 June 2025

Rwandan peacekeepers (RWANBATT-2), serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Malakal, conducted a medical outreach, offering free medical services to over 400 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in the Malakal IDP/Protection of Civilians (PoC) site.

The outreach included the distribution of deworming medication and treatment of various illnesses such as malaria, respiratory infections, and intestinal parasites. It also featured blood pressure screening and awareness-raising on non-communicable diseases.

Mr Zacharia Deck, the Chairman of the IDP/PoC community, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the RWANBATT-2 medical team for their invaluable support. He commended their continued assistance and the strong cooperation between RWANBATT-2 and the IDPs living in the Malakal PoC site.
