RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS IN THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC PROVIDE FREE MEDICAL SERVICES TO LOCAL RESIDENTS
Bria, 25 April 2025
Rwandan peacekeepers (Level 2+ Hospital and Rwanda Battle Group VII), serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), provided free medical services to over 600 residents in the Haute-Kotto Prefecture, Bria.
The medical outreach, organised by Rwanda Level 2+ Hospital (RWAMED) and Rwanda Battle Group VII (RWABG VII), was held at the AYOROKPO Health Centre. The outreach offered free medical services including consultations, treatment for illnesses such as malaria, intestinal worms, paediatric and gynaecological issues, dental care, and obstetric services. The medical team also conducted diabetes and hypertension screenings, and delivered oral health and hygiene education.
Mr OUALA Joseph, Head of AYOROKPO Health Centre, along with local leaders, appreciated the Rwandan peacekeepers for the services provided, and called for moreover outreach efforts to support the local population.
Lt Col Dr Emmanuel Mutabazi, Deputy Commander of RWAMED X, urged the community to maintain hygiene, ensure clean water sources, and sleep under mosquito nets to help prevent the spread of various diseases.
This initiative reflects the joint commitment of MINUSCA and the Rwandan peacekeepers to supporting civilian health, peace, and stability through Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC).
