RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS IN SOUTH SUDAN JOIN OTHER UN CONTINGENTS TO WELCOME NEW SRSG

Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), alongside troops from Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia, and Nepal, today welcomed in the colourful military parade the newly appointed  Special Representative of the Secretary- General (SRSG), Ms. Anita Kiki Gbeho.

The ceremony took place at the UNMISS headquarters on the outskirts of Juba, South Sudan.

Following the parade, Ms. Anita K. Gbeho received a warm welcome from a wide range of officials. These included representatives from UNMISS headquarters, sector-level leadership and staff officers, military and police contingents, UN agencies, and civilian components.

Ms. Gbeho was recently appointed SRSG by the UN Secretary-General, AntĂłnio Guterres, to represent him at UNMISS. She succeeds the late Nicholas Haysom, who passed away on 18 March 2026.
