RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS IN CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC PROVIDE FREE MEDICAL SERVICES TO THE IDPS IN BRIA
Today, Rwandan peacekeepers ( Rwanda level 2+ Hospital and RWABG VIII) serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) provided free medical services to more than 410 internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in the Gobolo 1 IDP camp in Bria, Central African Republic.
The medical outreach was conducted as part of activities leading up to the celebration of the United Nations International Day scheduled on 29 May 2026.

The IDPs accommodated in the camp originated from various regions of the Central African Republic, while others fled from Sudan as the result of insecurity and conflicts that have affected both countries over the past years.
Medical services provided during the outreach included internal medicine, dental care, gynecology and obstetrics, as well as dermatology, among other treatments.
Speaking during the event, Ponombo Felix, Chief of the Supervision and Health Care Quality Section at the District Sanitary Office of the Haute-Kotto Region, expressed gratitude to the Rwandan peacekeepers for their humanitarian support.

âWe are very happy that the Rwandan contingent under MINUSCA came here to treat the IDPs at the Gobolo 1 camp for various diseases. This event demonstrates the strong cooperation that already exists between MINUSCA and the local community in Bria. It is truly commendable and valuable to receive such quality medical services,â he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Adama Babiru, also thanked the Rwandan peacekeepers for providing him with treatment and free medication.
âWe appreciate the Rwandan peacekeepers for treating us free of charge. We request that these medical activities continue, as it is difficult for people living in the camp to access proper healthcare,â he said.
