RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS IN CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC DONATE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND PAY SCHOOL FEES FOR STUDENTS
Bangui, 05 June 2025
Rwandan peacekeepers, serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) at Socatel M’Poko in Bangui, conducted a Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative to support local students. The effort included distributing school supplies and covering school fees for students from vulnerable families.
A total of 140 students benefited from school materials, while 32 students benefited school fees. This initiative reflects the Rwandan contingent’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the welfare of local communities, particularly children.
The event was attended by key figures, including Mr. BATE Bonaventure, Headmaster of Kina Primary School, Ms. AMBASIYO Françoise, Headmistress, MINUSCA staff, and Rwandan peacekeepers.
In his remarks, Mr. BATE Bonaventure expressed profound gratitude for the support, noting that it provides renewed hope for children aspiring to contribute to their nation’s development. He commended the Rwandan peacekeepers for their consistent efforts to uplift local communities.
Lt Col Alphonse KIGENZA, Commander of the RWABATT-1 contingent, emphasized that the initiative aims to promote education and foster stronger ties between the peacekeepers and the local population. “We want the children of this country to have a bright future through quality education. As peacekeepers, it is our duty to support local community.” he stated.
Lt Col KIGENZA further highlighted education’s critical role as a foundation for peace and development.
This activity underscores the Rwandan peacekeepers’ dedication to not only maintaining peace and security in the Central African Republic but also advancing humanitarian and development goals through CIMIC initiatives.
