Rwandan Peacekeepers in CAR provide free medical services to Boali residents
Bossembele, 28 January 2024
Rwandan peacekeepers (RWABAT2) serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) have delivered free medical services to approximately 110 residents of Boali, located in the Ombella-Mpoko prefecture. This initiative addresses critical healthcare challenges in a region where access to medical services is severely limited.
The medical outreach, organised by the Rwandan contingent included consultations, diagnostic services, and the distribution of essential medications. The peacekeepers’ medical team treated various health conditions, including malaria, diabetes, hypertension, dental issues, urinary tract infections, allergic conjunctivitis, gastritis, peripheral neuropathies, and polyarthritis.
Additionally, the team conducted oral health education sessions to promote better hygiene practices within the community. This initiative is part of RWABAT2’s human security activities and civil-military cooperation efforts.
By addressing the immediate healthcare needs of the community, the programme contributes to civilian welfare and supports the broader mission of fostering peace and stability in the region.
