Rwandan Peacekeepers conduct Medical outreach Programme in Bria, CAR
Bria, 2 March 2025
Rwandan peacekeepers from the LEVEL 2+ HOSPITAL, serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), provided free medical services to 435 residents of Mingala commune in Bria on 1 March 2025.
This medical outreach Programme was designed to improve healthcare access and address critical health challenges in the region. It was organised by the Rwandan Medical Contingent (RWAMED X), focusing on providing free consultations, diagnostic services, and essential medications to those in need.
The RWAMED X team treated a range of illnesses, including malaria, intestinal worms, and dermatological conditions. Specialized gynecological consultations were also conducted to support women’s health in the remote area. Given the high prevalence of oral health issues, the team provided dental care for conditions such as dental caries, periodontal diseases, and odontogenic infections.
In addition, the medical outreach included screenings for non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Oral health education was also offered to the residents, ensuring that all beneficiaries received medical consultations and necessary treatments.
This initiative reflects the shared commitment of MINUSCA and Rwanda to human security and the protection of civilians. It contributes to the well-being of the local population while fostering peace and stability in the region.
