RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS CONDUCT MEDICAL OUTREACH PROGRAM IN BIMBO WOMEN’S PRISON
Rwandan peacekeepers conducted a medical outreach at Bimbo Women's Prison in the outskirts of Bangui City, responding to a request from prison authorities for support through the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
The outreach focused on general consultations, including specialised services in stomatology and ophthalmology. Essential medicines were also distributed, easing pain and restoring a sense of wellbeing among the women.
Addressing the inmates, the Rwabatt-1 Contingent Commander, Lt Col Paul Gasasira said that “Our presence here today reflects the commitment of MINUSCA not only to support peace and security in the Central African Republic, but also to promote human dignity, inclusion, and respect for all individuals, including those in places of detention".
He encouraged them to remain hopeful and resilient.
The prison director, Djadde Clotilde, expressed heartfelt appreciation to MINUSCA, particularly the Rwandan contingent, for their strong spirit of cooperation and continued humanitarian support.
The outreach left a lasting impact; bringing not only medical care, but also compassion, dignity and renewed hope to the women of Bimbo Prison.
