RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS CONDUCT COMMUNITY WORK IN SOUTH SUDAN AND DONATE SCHOLASTIC MATERIALS TO PUPILS

Rwandan peacekeepers (89 Mechanized Inf Battalion) under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) donated a variety of scholastic materials to more than 800 pupils from Jebel Christian School in Ruri Payam in Juba Central Equatorial State.
The support includes exercise books, pens and pencils among others.
The peacekeepers also conducted community work together with local communities, local leaders and school leadership. The focus was on planting fruit trees in the school and its surrounding area.
The school headmaster, Mr Tong Garang appreciated the effort of the Rwandan peacekeepers for the scholastic materials provided to the school and the children at large. He encouraged the Rwandan peacekeepers to continue their humanitarian efforts.
The Rwanbatt-3 Contingent Commander, Col Tyson John SESONGA said that this activity aimed to support the aspirations of young minds and nurture their potential aspire to be future leaders of South Sudan.
He also reminded the Community that, as peacekeepers, they are tasked to support the Community in building a peaceful and prosperous future.
The founder of the School, Mr Bishop James Baak on behalf of Jebel Christian School thanked Rwandan peacekeepers for the generous donation. He expressed that the donation of fruit trees is a wonderful gift that will benefit the community by providing nutritious fruits and contribute to the beautification of the school. Mr Bishop James underlined that “your efforts exemplify the spirit of compassion and solidarity that strengthens communities and fosters hope for a brighter future”.
