RWANDA SECURITY FORCES COMMANDER AND MOZAMBIQUE CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF VISIT LIBERATED MUCOJO COASTAL TOWN
Cabo Delgado, 23 November 2024
The Joint Task Force Commander of the Rwanda Security Forces (RSF), Maj Gen Emmy K. Ruvusha and the Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Mozambique Armed Forces (FADM), Admiral Joaquim Mangrasse visited Mucojo Coastal Town in Cabo Delgado. The town, previously a stronghold of Ansar Al-Sunna Wajamah terrorists since December 2023, was recently liberated through joint military operations.
During the visit, the two commanders held an operational meeting with field commanders from the RSF and FADM. Discussions centered on the current security situation following the capture of Mucojo and surrounding villages.
The joint military operation to dismantle the terrorist bases in the region commenced in mid-October, and its displaced residents are now returning to their homes.
