Rwanda deploys force protection troops to Central African Republic

The Government of Rwanda has deployed force protection troops to the Central African Republic, under an existing bilateral agreement on defense. The deployment is in response to the targeting of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) contingent under the UN Peacekeeping force by rebels supported by François Bozize.
Rwandan troops will also contribute to ensure a peaceful and secure general elections scheduled on Sunday 27 December 2020, twenty-two months after the peace agreement which was reached between the government and fourteen armed groups.
The Rwanda Defence Force is also one of the largest troop contributor to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) since 2014.

Le gouvernement rwandais a déployé une force de protection en République centrafricaine, dans le cadre d'un accord bilatéral de défense. Le déploiement est en réponse au ciblage du contingent des Forces de Défense du Rwanda (RDF) sous la force de maintien de la paix de l'ONU par les rebelles soutenus par François Bozize.
Les troupes rwandaises contribueront également à assurer des élections générales pacifiques et sécurisées prévues le dimanche 27 décembre 2020, vingt-deux mois après l'accord de paix conclu entre le gouvernement et quatorze groupes armés.
La Force de Défense du Rwanda est également l'un des plus gros contributeurs de troupes à la Mission multidimensionnelle intégrée des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en République centrafricaine (MINUSCA) depuis 2014.
