Rwanda Defence Force enrols new soldiers

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has enrolled new soldiers who completed their basic military training on 29 February 2020 at Nasho Basic Military Training Centre. The young women and men also demonstrated to the RDF leadership their newly acquired professional skills at arms and drills before being welcomed in the Defence Force.

The enrolment ceremony was presided over by the RDF Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Jean Bosco Kazura who reminded the new soldiers that they are joining a committed defence that does all to defend and develop its country hand in hand with its people.
“Be ready to defend the sovereignty of your country and also work for its development. Discipline and commitment will be at the cornerstone of success in your future tasks.” The RDF Chief of Defence Staff advised the new soldiers.

The overall best new soldier among Intake 11, Pte Nsengiyumva David told RDF media that he was proud to join RDF and serve his nation. “I am very proud to graduate from the basic military training, I am ready to put in action what I learnt and give the best I can to serve my country and people”, he said.
The recruitment and integration of new soldiers, the same as is retirement, are recurring processes that are in line with RDF’s required operational readiness. The new members of this intake started their training back in March 2019 and were enrolled after a year of basic military training.
