HISTORY FOR RWANDA
Rwandan basketball has reached a new milestone as RSSB Tigers were crowned the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Champions in their very first appearance in the competition. In a thrilling final at BK Arena, the Tigers defeated Petro de Luanda 90-88 to complete one of the most remarkable journeys in African club basketball history. Entering the tournament as debutants, the Tigers showcased resilience, determination, and championship character throughout the season, overcoming some of the continent’s strongest teams on their way to the title.
The historic campaign was further highlighted by individual excellence, with Craig Randall I
being named the 2026 BAL Most Valuable Player (MVP), Henry Mwinuka earning the Coach of the Year award for guiding the team to a dream debut title
, and Mangok Mathiang being recognized as the BAL Defensive Player of the Year for his dominant presence on both ends of the floor. Together, they played a pivotal role in leading RSSB Tigers to continental glory.
