RESERVE FORCE CHIEF OF STAFF ADDRESSES RESERVISTS FROM SOUTHERN PROVINCE
Muhanga, 28 November 2025
The Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) Chief of Staff of the Reserve Force, Major General Alex Kagame, held a meeting today with reservists from Kamonyi, Muhanga, and Ruhango districts, along with Reserve Sector commanders from other districts in the Southern Province. The meeting held in Muhanga district and was aimed at listening the reservists’ concerns and updating them on ongoing RDF projects dedicated to their development and welfare.
The Southern Province meeting followed similar engagements previously held in all districts of the Eastern Province, Kigali City and the Northern Province. These meetings form part of a countrywide effort to strengthen communication between the Reserve Force leadership and reservists, ensuring their needs are well understood and addressed.
During his address, Major General Alex Kagame commended the reservists for their discipline and positive conduct within their communities. He acknowledged that the projects and programmes supporting reservists are still limited but noted that RDF leadership is working to ensure fair distribution. He urged reservists to form cooperatives to enhance their access to RDF Reserve Force projects, emphasizing that collective organisation enables broader and more sustainable support.
Highlighting the role of reservists within society, Major General Kagame praised their exemplary behaviour and contribution as role models in their communities. He encouraged them to continue upholding discipline, integrity, transparency and accountability. He also advised them to refrain from spreading misinformation on social media and to respect the confidentiality required in military affairs.
In addition, Major General Alex Kagame urged reservists to continue safeguarding national security within their communities, acting as vigilant partners in maintaining peace and stability.
