RDF wins two trophies at the EAC Military Games

Nairobi, 23 August 2019

Rwanda Defence Force Football and Basketball teams have today won two trophies in the just concluded East African Community Military Games that have been taking place in Nairobi, Kenya for the last two weeks.

RDF men’s Football team has emerged the over all best after securing 9 points and losing only one game, whereas the Basketball team won all games. The women’s Volleyball team scooped silver medals.

President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the closing ceremony of the EAC Military Games and Cultural Events 2019. In attendance was the RDF Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen Patrick Nyamvumba.

“EAC Military Games and Cultural Event has become a fundamental pillar of regional integration. It has helped in deepening and widening cooperation among partner states which resonates well with our efforts to build bridges of unity and fraternity within our region as well as our continent,” President Kenyatta said in his speech.

South Sudan will host the next edition of the annual EAC Military military games in 2020.
