RDF to participate in World Military Games
Kigali, 15 October 2019
Today, a contingent of RDF sports teams including Athletes, Beach Volley, Taekwondo, and Shooting, head to Wuhan City, China for the 7th World Military Games, scheduled 15-30 October 2019. The RDF Sports Contingent comprising 18 personnel is led by Brig Gen J. B Ngiruwonsanga who is also a member of the Board of Directors for the International Military Sports Council (CISM).
While briefing the RDF teams before leaving Kigali, Brig Gen Ngiruwonsanga urged them to be good ambassadors for Rwanda. “We should fight to keep the good image of our country during these games. RDF should mark a difference in this event by keeping high discipline and winning the competition. Wining the competition is not something granted, we should work for it,” he added.
The Games will involve military sports teams from around 140 member countries of CISM who will compete in 27 sports disciplines.
The Military World Games are the top sporting event for military personnel around the world. They are always held every four years since their launch in 1995. Rwanda is participating for the 3rd time.
The games were last held in Mungyeong, Republic of Korea, in 2015.
