RDF RESERVE FORCE CHIEF OF STAFF ADDRESSES RESERVISTS IN NORTHERN PROVINCE
Musanze, 12 November 2025
The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Reserve Force Chief of Staff, Major General Alex Kagame, together with the Governor of Northern Province, Mr. Mugabowagahunde Maurice, today met with reservists from all districts of the province to commend their contribution to national security and development. The meeting took place in Musanze District.
Major General Kagame engaged with the reservists to listen to their concerns and update them on national security matters as well as ongoing government programs. He acknowledged that while projects specifically dedicated to reservists are still limited, efforts are being made to distribute available opportunities fairly among eligible members. He encouraged the reservists to organize themselves into cooperatives to facilitate access to support and to take initiative in creating income-generating activities, rather than waiting for government programs.
Major General Kagame also reminded the reservists to maintain discipline and integrity within their communities, refrain from spreading misinformation on social media, and uphold the confidentiality of military affairs. He concluded by reaffirming that Rwanda remains peaceful and secure, emphasizing that patriotism and the defense of national sovereignty are responsibilities shared by all citizens.
Governor Mugabowagahunde, in his remarks, praised the reservists for their vital role in safeguarding national security and contributing to development. He assured them that the Government values their service and continues to monitor their welfare and involvement in national progress.
He further emphasized that the provincial leadership will continue strengthening collaboration with the reservists through regular information sharing, healthcare support, and job creation initiatives aimed at eradicating poverty. The Governor called on reservists to remain exemplary in maintaining security, preventing illegal mining, promoting hygiene, and upholding Rwandan values.
