RDF REQUESTS INVESTIGATION OF THE FORCES ARMÉES DE LA RÉPUBLIQUE DÉMOCRATIQUE DU CONGO (FARDC) SHELLING ON RWANDAN TERRITORY

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has requested the Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM) to investigate cross-border shelling on Rwandan territory by Forces Armées de la République Démocratique du Congo (FARDC).
On Monday, 23 May 2022, between 0959hrs and 1020hrs, FARDC rocket shelling hit Kinigi and Nyange Sectors in Musanze District which also borders Gahunga sector in Burera District injuring several civilians and damaging property.
Col Ronald Rwivanga, military spokesperson said: “The situation in the area is normal and security assured. Those injured are receiving treatment and officials are assessing the extent of the damage. The RDF has requested for urgent investigation by the regional EJVM, and Rwandan authorities are also engaging DRC counterparts over the incident.”

Umuvugizi w’Ingabo z’u Rwanda (RDF) Col. Ronald Rwivanga yagize ati: "Muri ako Karere, ibikorwa birakomeje nkuko bisanzwe, kandi umutekano urizewe. Abakomeretse barimo kuvurwa, ndetse abayobozi barimo gusuzuma ingano y’ibyangiritse. Ubuyobozi bw'Ingabo z'u Rwanda (RDF) burasaba ko hakorwa iperereza ryihutirwa na EJVM, kandi abayobozi ku ruhande rw'u Rwanda barasaba bagenzi babo bo muri DRC gusuzuma iby'iki kibazo.”

L’ARMÉE RWANDAISE (RDF) DEMANDE UNE ENQUÊTE SUR LES BOMBARDEMENTS DES FARDC SUR LE TERRITOIRE RWANDAIS

L’Armée rwandaise (RDF) a demandé au Mécanisme Conjoint de Vérification Élargi (MCVE) d'enquêter sur les bombardements transfrontaliers sur le territoire rwandais par les Forces Armées de la République démocratique du Congo (FARDC).
Ce lundi 23 mai 2022, entre 9 h 59 et 10 h 20, des tirs de roquettes des FARDC ont été tirés dans le secteur de Gahunga dans le district de Burera ainsi que dans les secteurs de Kinigi et Nyange dans le district de Musanze, blessant plusieurs civils et endommageant des biens.
Col. Ronald Rwivanga, le porte-parole militaire de l’Armée rwandaise, a déclaré que la situation dans cette zone est redevenue normale et que la sécurité assurée. Les blessés reçoivent des soins et les autorités évaluent l'étendue des dégâts. Il a également fait savoir qu’ils ont demandé au Mécanisme conjoint de vérification d’ouvrir une enquête urgente et que les autorités rwandaises ont également demandé à leurs homologues congolais d’enquêter sur cet incident »
