RDF joins Ethiopia for Defence Day Celebration
Addis Ababa, Thursday 14 February 2019

The Rwanda Defence Force Air Force Chief of Staff, Maj Gen Charles Karamba attended today the Ethiopia Defence Day celebration on behalf of the RDF Chief of Defence Staff.
The ceremony took place in Oromia Region, in Adama town, about 100km from Addis Ababa.
The celebrations were presided over by the Ethiopian Prime Minister, HE Dr Abiy Ahmed accompanied by the Minister of Defence Aisha Mohammed Mussa, the Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF), Gen Se’are Mekonnen, the former CGS Gen Yunus Samora and ENDF Service Chiefs.
Also present during the ceremony were Eastern Africa CDS/ CDF from Burundi, Djibouti, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda.
Since 2013, the government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia decided to commemorate every 14 February as the national defence day owing to the establishment, on 14 February 1996, of the Federal Defence Force.
