RDF Inter-Force Sports Competition concludes on a high note

The Rwanda Defence Force Inter-Force Competition 2020 Edition was concluded today on a high note with all military participants happily demonstrating their sporting talents. The final games were played at Amahoro Stadium, Remera and Kigali Stadium, Nyamirambo.

Basketball, Handball and Volleyball final matches were played in the morning at Amahoro Stadium while the final football match took place in the afternoon at Kigali Stadium, Nyamirambo.


During the final football match, General Headquarters (GHQs) played against Artillery Division and emerged winner with a score of 2-1. RMA Gako, Special Operation Forces (SOF) and Rwanda Air force (RAF) emerged as winners in Volleyball, Basketball and Netball respectively. SOF was also the winner in Handball.

In Athletics, GHQs emerged the best followed by RMA GAKO and SOF.
The Basic Military Training Center Nasho was winner in the shooting competition followed by SOF and 3 Division.


During the closing ceremony at Kigali Stadium, the Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Albert Murasira congratulated the teams for the skills demonstrated during the competition. He emphasized that sports and games in general promote the spirit of heroism by encouraging commitment to win. “ I urge you all to keep up the sports culture. In the military, we should always be exemplary in whatever we do,” he said.

The RDF Inter-Force Competition is an annual event that tests abilities of military units and formations in various sports disciplines and its conclusion coincides with the celebration of Heroes' Day in Rwanda.
