RDF HOSTS NIGERIAN NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE DELEGATION
The Rwanda Defence Force hosted a delegation of 15 officers from the Nigerian National Defence College at RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura. The delegation is in Rwanda for a six-day study tour focused on ecotourism and national development.
The visit aims to give the delegation firsthand understanding of Rwanda’s approach to ecotourism, post-conflict transformation, and national development policy.
The RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Gen MK Mubarakh, welcomed the students and thanked the Nigerian National Defence College for choosing Rwanda for the tour. He noted the strong cooperation between the two defence forces, especially in military capacity building.
“I would like to reaffirm the Rwanda Defence Force’s commitment to strengthening existing cooperation with the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly the National Defence College, in training, education, and exchange programs,” Gen Mubarakh said.
Brig Gen Patrick Karuretwa, Director General of International Military Cooperation at the Ministry of Defence, emphasized that the study tour creates valuable opportunities to share experiences and deepen strategic understanding of contemporary security challenges facing both nations.
During the briefing, students and staff received an overview of the RDF’s transformation journey after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. As part of the program, the delegation visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Campaign Against the Genocide Museum.
Commodore Ebo Adegoke Timothy, Head of delegation, commended the RDF for its progress in national transformation and socio-economic development. He appreciated the learning opportunities provided by senior RDF officials, noting that the tour helped the students understand the policies and strategies Rwanda used to advance national development through ecotourism and good governance.
Over the six days, the delegation will visit sites across Rwanda to gather insights for their academic research on security, development, and resilience.
