RDF CHIEF OF CIVIL MILITARY COOPERATION ADDRESSES STUDENTS OF RWANDA INSTITUTE FOR CONSERVATION AGRICULTURE IN BUGESERA
Bugesera, 11 July 2025
The Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation in the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Colonel Désiré Migambi Mungamba, today addressed the students of Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) in Bugesera district, where he emphasised the importance of preserving Rwanda’s hard-won achievements.
As Rwanda commemorates the 31st anniversary of Liberation, Colonel Migambi delivered a lecture entitled “The Role of the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA) in the Liberation of the Country in 1994: How Can Today’s Youth Sustain What Has Been Achieved?”
Reflecting on the journey of the liberation struggle, he underscored the importance of visionary leadership, discipline, patriotism, and unity as key values that led to the country’s success. He reminded the students that the liberation struggle was marked by extremely difficult times, including the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, which made the journey even more arduous. He paid tribute to the youth of the RPA, who made immense sacrifices to stop the genocide and begin the process of rebuilding the nation.
Colonel Migambi urged the youth to sustain these achievements by embracing discipline, a sense of responsibility, and growing into role models and future leaders of Rwanda.
Dr Olusegun Adedayo Yerokun, Vice Chancellor of RICA, encouraged the students to be courageous and to carry forward the legacy of the RPA youth who liberated the country. He called on them to adopt an open-minded approach to development, not only for Rwanda but for the African continent as a whole.
