RDF ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF WELCOMES RWANDA SECURITY FORCES CONCLUDING TOUR OF DUTY IN CABO DELGADO

Today at Kigali International Airport, The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Army Chief of Staff, Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi along with Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, CP Vincent Sano welcomed the Rwanda Security Forces (RSF) personnel who have concluded their tour of duty in Cabo Delgado province, Mozambique. The force was under the command of Maj Gen Alex Kagame.
The RDF Army Chief of Staff who welcomed this force conveyed a message from H.E Paul Kagame, the Commander-in-Chief of the RDF, and the entire leadership of the RDF, congratulating them on their significant contributions to the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado, rescuing and protecting civilians, and facilitating the return of over 87% of internally displaced people to their villages.
The RDF Army Chief also briefed the force on the current security situation in the country and, reminded them to maintain discipline while working alongside their colleagues to defend the country.
During their tour of duty in Cabo Delgado, the Rwanda Security Forces conducted various combat operations aimed at defeating Al Sunna Wa Jama (ASWJ) terrorist group. This has enabled socio-economic activities to resume. In addition, they participated in civil-military activities aimed at addressing socio-security challenges. This included building and renovating schools in the Mocimboa da Praia and Ancuabe districts, providing students with educational materials, and free medical treatment among other forms of support.
