Qatar Armed Forces Chief of Staff visits Rwanda
Kigali, 7 January 2020
A Qatar Armed Forces delegation led by the Chief of Staff, Lt Gen (Pilot) Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim conducted a two-day visit in Rwanda from 6 to 7 January 2020. His visit aims at building on the existing good bilateral relations between Qatar and Rwanda in order to explore and strengthen areas of mutual defence and military cooperation between the two defence forces.
Upon his arrival in Kigali on Monday afternoon, Lt Gen Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim was welcomed by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Rwanda Defence Force, Gen Jean Bosco Kazura and they held a meeting to review areas of their future cooperation.

On Tuesday, the Qatari military delegation paid a courtesy call on the Rwanda Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Albert Murasira with whom they had fruitful discussions of topics of common interest.
“We will keep working together for the best future of both our armed forces. There are many areas of common interest which can be the focus of our future cooperation. We will establish joint technical teams with different specialties and they will need to work together and we want results in the near future,” said Lt Gen Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim.
The visiting guest accompanied by the RDF CDS also paid respect to the victims of the Genocide Against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial and toured the Campaign Against Genocide Museum.
