PRESS RELEASE: RDF SOLDIER INADVERTENTLY STRAYS ACROSS RWANDA BORDER WITH BURUNDI

Kigali, 24 September 2025
Today, 24 September 2025, Sgt SADIKI Emmanuel, a driver with the RDF, inadvertently strayed across the Gasenyi-Nemba border into Burundi and was arrested by Burundian Police. He is currently being held at Kirundo Police Station in commune Busoni, Butanyera Province.
RDF regrets this unfortunate common border incident and will undertake necessary diplomatic actions with the Government of Burundi to bring the soldier back home.
