A delegation of 27 senior military officers from the National Defence College of Nigeria is in Rwanda for a regional study tour from 18-25 May 2019. The delegation, led by Air Commodore Titus Z Dauda paid a courtesy call to Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Patrick Nyamvumba after which they were given a presentation on the current security status and major activities of Rwanda Defence Force.
After the presentation, the leader of the visiting team spoke at lengths on their tour in Rwanda, thanking RDF for a warm welcome they extended so far to their delegation.
"Our visit in Rwanda is actually to confirm some of the things we have learned about Rwanda, to get them first-hand information rather than reading about them from secondary sources, participants expects to learn a lot especially what policies that facilitated Rwanda to recuperate from 1994 Genocide against Tutsi,” he added.
He also revealed the theme of their tour which is 'Tourism and National Development, Lessons for Nigeria' adding that tours like these fall within the regional studies module of the NDC curriculum. The Air Commodore reiterated that it is very significant to the students to recognise what other countries do, for them to learn and draw lessons.
The delegation from NDC started their official tour today by visiting Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre where they paid respect to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
During their week-long tour, the delegation will also visit the ministry of local government, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, RDB, RGB, Zigama CSS, Military medical insurance, Rwanda military hospital, and other key government and public institutions.
