Speaking on behalf of His Excellency President Paul Kagame and the Commander-in-Chief of the Rwanda Defence Force, the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, General MK Mubarakh, remarked that this was a difficult moment for Lt Gen Kabandana’s family, the RDF, and the nation as a whole particularly as “We reflect on the time we shared with him, his steadfast dedication, notable achievements, and lasting contributions to Rwanda’s liberation struggle and the nations security.
General MK Mubarakh emphasised that, “While we mourn the loss of a great leader, Lt Gen Innocent Kabandana, we must also honour and celebrate the legacy he leaves behind, a legacy marked by unwavering discipline and deep patriotism, which he exemplified both at home and on international missions.”
He further noted that the strength of the Rwanda Defence Force was built upon the dedicated service of military leaders like Lt Gen Kabandana and his comrades, serving and deceased.
