FACULTY MEMBERS AND STUDENTS FROM THE BANGLADESH NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE VISIT RDF HQS
Kigali, 10 September 2024
Today, a delegation of 20 faculty members and student officers from the Bangladesh National Defence College led by Brig Gen Sazedul Islam visited the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) headquarters. The delegation was received by the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, General MK Mubarakh, who welcomed them warmly.
The delegation received an overview of the RDF’s transformation journey from Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga, the Defence Spokesperson and insights into regional security dynamics from Col Stanislas Gashugi, Chief of Operations in RDF.
During his welcome address, General MK Mubarakh emphasized that Rwanda offers valuable lessons for those seeking to learn. He noted the strong cooperation between the Bangladesh Armed Forces and the RDF, stating, “We have all that a student wishes to have. The bad days are gone, but of course, they left us a mark; it’s a revolution, and it doesn’t stop.”
Brig Gen Sazedul Islam, head of delegation highlighted the shared history between the two countries and expressed the delegation’s intent to engage in mutual learning. “We are here to see how we can share this professional military education. Rwanda is moving in the right direction,” he said.
The delegation is on a week long study tour from 8th to 14th September 2024. Yesterday, the delegation paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial and later visited the Campaign Against Genocide Museum.
The delegation’s schedule includes visits to the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College in Nyakinama, Zigama CSS, Military Medical Insurance, Rwanda Military Referral and Teaching Hospital (RMRTH) and various other government and private institutions.
