CDS HOSTS DELEGATION FROM NIGERIAN ARMY RESOURCE CENTRE
Kigali, 18 February 2025
A 30-member delegation from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), led by Maj Gen (Rtd) Garba Ayodeji Wahab, Director General, visited the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) headquarters today. The delegation was received by the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, General MK Mubarakh.
In his welcome address, General MK Mubarakh highlighted the strong relationship between the RDF and the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly in personnel capacity building. He remarked, “I would like to commend the shared commitment of the RDF and the Nigerian Armed Forces to collaborative peace and security efforts, which has led both forces to be actively engaged in UN peacekeeping missions and the fight against terrorism on our continent.”
The delegation was briefed on the RDF’s transformation journey and regional security dynamics by Col David Mutayomba, the Chief of Military Training and Education (J7).
Maj Gen (Rtd) Garba Ayodeji Wahab, head of the delegation, stated that their visit aimed to exchange knowledge and best practices, as the Nigerian Army has also played a key role in national transformation.
He noted that NARC runs various programmes, including a Strategic Management course for high-ranking officers, to address defence and security challenges.
As part of their five-day official visit to Rwanda, the delegation yesterday paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial and later visited the Campaign Against Genocide Museum.
Their itinerary also includes visits to the Rwanda Military Referral and Teaching Hospital (RMRTH) and various other government institutions.
