The RDF uses the Engineer Regiment unique capabilities to contribute to national development and respond to humanitarian situations as required by the constitution of the Republic of Rwanda.

Peacetime utilisation of its construction resources is premised on the principle of having a productive military organisation rather than being a net burden to the tax payer.
