Rwanda military history is a part of the whole history of Rwanda. Nevertheless, it is a portion that represents a major interest since Rwanda expanded to about three times its current size by means of military conquests. This took strong leadership and military organisation. We will be exploring some historical military events of great importance that contributed to the nation as we know it to day.

The military history of Rwanda is as old as the country itself. We will be tracing major historic epochs with our dear visitors with a view to:

• Making known Rwandan military history both to Rwandans and foreigners;

• Showing the relationship between ancient and contemporary military prowess;

• Enkindling patriotism in all Rwandans;

• Attracting historians and other researchers to the subject.
